 SCMES
Below are sample items from the School Counseling Multicultural Efficacy Scale (SCMES). The SCMES was developed to assess school counselors' perceived ability to do multucultural and diversity-related tasks in schools. The instrument is currently being researched by a team of counselor education doctoral students. Results will be posted on this site when they are available. The SCMES is designed for research and training purposes.
Sample Items:

1. I can identify the cultural basis of my communication style.

2. I can develop partnerships with community groups and/or organizations that specifically serve ethnically and culturally different persons.

3. I can challenge others' racist and/or prejudiced beliefs and behaviors.

4. I can discuss how culture affects the help seeking behaviors of students.

5. I can use data to advocate for students.

Participants rate how well they can do the tasks by using a scale from 1-7 (1= not well at all to 7= very well).
